This is my introductory post for a new class at Wake Tech. I am a 50-something unemployed who has been "in-transition" since July of 2012. My passion is in helping others to achieve their dreams. I have been blessed to have worked with some of the finest leaders in business over the years and to have met many leaders from other areas who were always available to me when needed. Because of the unemployment, I have had the opportunity to invest myself in several Continuing Education classes during this time and from there, thought why not try some Curriculum Education classes as well, while looking for the next job? So, last January, I started classes at Wake Tech.
I took a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification class at the Western Campus and a full course load in the evenings at the Northern Campus. I received my certification in Lean Six Sigma in May of this year, completed my project and received my green belt in June. I was fortunate to have had a great teaching staff for the evening classes too, so those went well. I thought that I was going to have to sit out this semester, due to changes made by our NC Legislators, however, they did not prevail and I am able to enjoy a couple of classes.
I have worked with PC's since the early 80's, I still have my first IBM PC with an 8088 processor and 2 floppy drives. When I saw the opportunity to get under the covers of this technology, which I have worked with from a distance, I thought it would be a great challenge and I am confident that it will help me in understanding how to use these tools to help others. Looking forward to a great season!
